The Attitude of Gratitude
Recently, being a little "down" (which thankfully happens only on the rare occasions) I sat and thought about how to get back to a more normal, positive outlook. The answer came quickly—express your gratitude and appreciation publicly on Facebook. I started posting 100 Days of Gratitude on my personal page, Scott Schilling (August 1st is day 70 of 100).
It wasn’t necessarily done for any other reason than for me to create a solid daily habit of being grateful for everything in my life. It made sense to me to make that a public commitment so I could be held accountable. Then, a funny thing happened. My public desire to help myself began to help others.
Suddenly there were people from around the world sharing the “gratitudes” as well. We started creating a bond and supporting each other as we looked forward to the daily postings. That success inspired this action to create a group—hopefully soon to be a worldwide group of inspired individuals that truly see the good in their lives and the lives of others.
As of today (August 1st) there are 500 members of the GRATITUDE TODAY group on Facebook. Very exciting to say the least!
The very best way to live a fulfilled, happy and joyful life is to be grateful every day for what you already have. This group about sharing that gratitude publicly—making a conscious decision to express your gratitude and appreciation for what have, who inspires you and whatever you genuinely feel grateful for on a daily basis. I’m grateful for your desire to share!
Please join us if you feel so moved. Do this for yourself and if in fact it becomes something that inspires you on a daily basis, invite others to do the same. Let’s just see if we can create some additional blessings in all of our lives by starting with being grateful and appreciate what we already have.
As I learned from my friend Elisabeth Fayt, "Something wonderful is going to happen today!"
Thank you for stopping by—I am grateful for who you are!
